Last week I described my life pre-uni like being in a bubble…

This week, I stepped out of the bubble, which was one of the most exciting and scary things I’ve ever done…

And it was just how I imagined it would be: totally incredible.

I have had the most intense and crazy week. I’ve met so many awesome people, seen so many cool things, taken part in loads of different events.

I’ve also been out of my comfort zone a lot this week, but instead of being uncomfortable, I’ve really been enjoying myself. I can’t explain it, but the atmosphere is just so great, and it doesn’t give you space to feel awkward or insecure.

For the first time in years, I’ve had lunch on my own without feeling like people are judging me. And walking around on my own or sitting on my own doesn’t feel awkward either. It’s so freeing.

I feel so happy and as if I’ve finally found an environment in which I belong. Not just the university but everything about Exeter. I’ve adjusted to life so naturally down here because it just feels like it’s where I need to be at this stage in my life.

I know I talk a lot about destiny and fate, and most of you reading this probably don’t believe in that sort of stuff, but they are the explanation I have for nearly everything in life.

Every bad and good thing that has happened in my life has made me who I am, and I just know that this experience is going to help me find myself.

It’s only the first week, and I feel myself developing into a better version of myself. I’ve always been afraid to show the person that I am for the risk of looking foolish or different, but here, that person is thriving and loving every minute.

And, excitingly, for the first time in my life, I can imagine a career with my chosen subjects that isn’t teaching or acting. I did a career test a couple of days ago, and it offered me so many possibilities with my passions and abilities that for once I don’t feel like I’m just going forward without a direction.

The nerdy side of me is in love with the library. For any new readers of this blog, you’ll get to realise soon enough that I’m a bit of a geek. Hence why I spent a load of time on Wednesday in the library doing prep work for next week’s lectures 🤓

But I actually really enjoyed reading through the stuff. And talking to my new seminar teacher was fun too. He seems like a really inspirationally passionate about his subject kind of guy.

Probably hands down my two favourite things are the vibes of the drama societies and the drama department. They’re all so happy, full of energy and friendly!

I’m writing this after just going to a Shakespeare Company taster, and it was so great; I’m buzzing a little bit if I’m honest. That’s just what it feels like around here.

I’m currently sat in the middle of campus writing this, and it’s such a busy and exciting place. I can’t describe it, but it’s just amazing.

You’re always told that the grass is always greener on the other side. And I thought that would be true of here. But it’s not. For the first time, I feel like I’ve just fit in perfectly.

I love the uni campus; it is beautiful, and I’ve really enjoyed exploring this week. It’s been absolutely amazing.

And, for my fellow students of HLC, I’ll add that I’d forgotten what having boys in class with you was like, but if any of you need a reminder, it’s a great change of pace after the years of girl’s school education. I’ve probably made some of the first male friends I’ve made in years this week 😂

I’m unbelievably happy (probably the reason for this post being so incoherent and random - apologies for that). It’s been the most incredible week!

If you want to see a more detailed version of my week, as I’m just going over the best bits here, head over to my YouTube channel on SUNDAY (a day late so I can vlog the freshers fair tomorrow)

Have an amazing week!
