Goodbye High School

What a strange week it’s been. It’s surreal to think it’s my last week of high school. Today is my last day in school and tomorrow I graduate.
Where did all the time go, I ask? It feels like only yesterday that I was in year 6, getting all excited about starting high school in September. And now I’m getting excited about starting university in September!
Strange as it sounds, as I’ve been eighteen for nearly two months now, I’ve still not come to terms with it. Eighteen… it just seems… I don’t know… so adult. I don’t feel like an adult, even though legally speaking I am.
This whole week has been strange since I’ve been constantly aware it is my last in school.
Tonight, I’m getting ready for graduation tomorrow by getting the final details of my outfit together and everything, so I don’t have much time to write this post, so I thought I would give you a quick run-down of this week instead of a specifically themed post.
On Sunday, it was the final choir service of the year (Valedictory). It was quite sad to know it was our last... I’ll miss singing in chapel with the girls, although I’ll admit I won’t miss the music :)
After the service, we had our choir party, which is always emotional when saying goodbye to the leavers. But we all had a good time, mucking around and singing. A good memory to leave on.
On Monday, I was in school for Sports Day. Not for the sport particularly mind you; the weather and seeing my friends was my main purpose. A lot of the leavers sat on the grass chatting, whilst wandering around and getting people to sign their yearbook.
If you follow me on Instagram (@roxyelle01) then you will have seen some of the messages I received and my beautiful scroll.
Scrolls are a tradition at my school. The leaver asks another person in school to make them a scroll, and it’s effectively a large piece of paper designed to fit the person. For example, mine was all about Shakespeare, French, YouTube and the like. It’s something really personal and special and everyone loves them.
On Tuesday, I went to Flamingo Land for the choir trip (I did try to vlog but for some reason it wouldn’t upload... don’t ask me)
Although I was disappointed with the zoo, as you may have seen on my story, I had a fun day with my friends. It was really relaxed; for the first time, instead of going from ride to ride (which I’m not a fan of as I don’t like big rides in general) we took a slower pace and it was so much more fun.
On Wednesday, it was the Hamlet trip to York. As a self-professed Shakespeare geek, this was my idea of heaven.
The performance was really good (even though I’m not a particular fan of Hamlet, I really enjoyed myself). Hamlet himself was very nice to look at, which didn’t hurt ;)
I really enjoyed the day as well; taking to people I don’t always get the chance to was really refreshing. We had a drama/literature geek out on the train, and I was like “my people” And the day was sunny and warm, which is always good (despite the fact I now have sunburn on my neck... details)
On Thursday, I finally got a reprieve from my busy schedule. For most of the day I didn’t do much else than video edit and watch Merlin.
In the evening, it was my friend’s birthday party. I’ll be honest and say I was feeling nervous as I didn’t know a lot of people who were going.
But I had no need to be worried; all her friends were lovely and super friendly. We chatted, played games, ate cake (best part obviously) and just generally had a really relaxed and nice time.
This morning, I got up early to go into school for a choir rehearsal. Then I had final assembly, Auld Lang Syne (a school tradition for the leavers), a rehearsal for Speech Day tomorrow...
Suffice to say it’s been a busy and emotional day. But I’ve enjoyed it. My last official day of high school... What a journey.
Tomorrow is going to be very busy. I’m going to try and vlog it, although I’m not sure what parts that will be possible for. Stay tuned on my Insta stories if you want to keep up with what I’m doing. Wish me luck.
And with that, I think I’ll have to call an end. I’ve got to get in the shower now.
Have a great weekend and see you next week!

Thank you x
Very true, hope everything goes well for you today and hope you enjoy tonight x
@zaracmz it’s hard to say goodbye, but it’s a positive step forward x
Shared a lot of these feelings today too, xx
